40-yr-old man arrested for defiling 9-yr-old girl in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old paedophile, Chinedu Eze, alias Chiboy, for serially raping a nine-year-old girl in the state.

The suspect was nabbed by police operatives attached to the Akenfa Police Division in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.


It was gathered that Eze's heinous acts were uncovered following an alarm raised by the mother of the minor after the victim told the mother about the incident and complained of severe abdominal pains.

The mother was said to have reported the sexual assault to a Girl Child Right Advocacy group in the state, Operation Rescue, which intervened and filed a complaint at the Akenfa Police Division, leading to the arrest of the culprit.

The victim who is a primary four pupil, told the police that Eze had raped her many times and always gave her N100 for her to keep silent.

The Coordinator of Operation Rescue, Princess Egbe, confirmed the arrest of Eze, saying the Officer in Charge of Family Welfare at the police station, had assisted the group in conducting a medical test on the victim which showed that she had been severally defiled.
