Sir Alex Ferguson: Former Manchester United boss has emergency brain surgery


Sir Alex Ferguson has had emergency surgery on Saturday for a brain haemorrhage.
A United statement said the procedure "had gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery".
Scot Ferguson, 76, retired as United manager in May 2013 after winning 38 trophies during 26 years in charge.

Cameroon midfielder Patrick Ekeng dies aged 26 after collapsing on pitch in Romania (photos)


Dinamo Bucharest and Cameroon midfielder Patrick Ekeng has died in hospital after collapsing on the pitch during a Romanian league match against Viitorul Constanta yesterday Friday May 6th.
His club was leading 3-2 when he slumped just seven minutes after coming in as a substitute.
According to Floreasca hospital in Bucharest where he was rushed to, doctors tried for an hour to resuscitate the 26-year-old Cameroon midfielder but failed. As at press time, the cause of his death is still unknown with some sources citing a possible heart attack.

Kelechi Iheanacho wants his salary at Man City increased from £10k to £200k (N58m) per week



Super Eagles of Nigeria and Manchester City football club of England striker Kelechi Iheanacho has reportedly asked the management of Man City for an increase in his salary from about £10,000 per week to £200,000 per week.

FIFA officials, Platini, Messi named in secret offshore files


Paris (AFP) - Disgraced FIFA officials, suspended UEFA chief Michel Platini and Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi were amongst the names found Sunday in leaked documents which reveal offshore financial dealings.

'The Panama Papers' claim the law firm of a FIFA ethics watchdog had business relationships with three men recently indicted in football's global corruption scandal.

Ifeanyi Ubah - Club owner banned for 10 games, fined N2.5m


The League Management Company (LMC) have given the proprietor of FC Ifeanyiubah a 10 match ban for punching Heartland FC goalkeeper, Ebele Obi.

In a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) game between FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Heartland FC on Wednesday, March 23, a brawl ensured after Ebele Obi who is the elder brother of John Obi Mikel pushed down the referee.

Lionel Messi v Cristiano Ronaldo row leads to stabbing of a Nigerian to death


A man was killed after arguing with a friend over whether Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo was the best footballer in the world.
Nigerian national Michael Chukwuma, 21, stabbed 34-year-old compatriot Obina Durumchukwu in a Mumbai suburb, Indian police said.

Obafemi Martins - joins Chinese league


Former Inter Milan and Newcastle United striker, Obafemi Martins is now plying his trade with Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua after ending a spell at US based club, Seattle Sounders in a deal said to be worth millions of dollar.

His departure to China follows a fairly successful playing career at Seattle Sounders where he scored 43 goals in 84 appearances.

John Terry - Chelsea defender to leave Stamford Bridge


Chelsea captain John Terry has not been offered a new contract and will leave the club at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old defender, who joined the club at the age of 14, has won four Premier League titles, five FA Cups and the Champions League with the Blues.

The former Arsenal striker thinks that Manchester United coach Louis Van Gaal is failing to infuse his ideas to his players and that he is struggling so hard to keep up with his job. He says the coach doesn't know what he is doing anymore so the best thing for Man U to do is let him go and hire Mourinho.

An Argentine fan who also supports River Plate of Argentina reportedly spat on Lionel Messi on Sunday evening after his club Barcelona celebrated winning the Club World Cup title in Japan where he scored in the 3-0 win. While heading through the Narita International Airport in Tokyo, he was allegedly abused by an irate fan.

According to Spanish magazine Marca, Messi, who some football fans in Argentina don't like because they feel he shows more loyalty and zeal towards Barcelona than Argentina, was about to confront the fan when teammates Mascherano, Luis Suarez and coach Luis Enrique came to calm down the arising tension. PREMIER LEAGUE: 'I'd rather lose than win for Mourinho' - One Chelsea player's astonishing claim

A member of Chelsea's first-team squad would 'rather lose than win' for Jose Mourinho, according to BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Garry Richardson, who added they are 'fed-up' with the way he is dealing with them.

Sportsweek's Richardson reported that Mourinho's relationship with his player had hit "rock bottom".

So tragic. A baseball fan plummeted to his death after falling at least 50 feet from the upper deck at Turner Field in Atlanta during the seventh inning of the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees’ Aug. 29 game.
