The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will investigate the alleged use of fake result sheets by some of its officials in the just concluded elections in Rivers state.

Speaking to newsmen, INEC Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi said “Was there really distribution of fake result sheets? How did the people know that they are fake?

“The allegation will be investigated, anyway.

“We are having a meeting on Wednesday with the Rivers Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), monitors and supervisors who went to the state for the election.”

Also speaking about the release of the remaining results of the Rivers elections, Osaze-Uzzi said “We are not going back to the state until the atmosphere is conducive to have a violent-free election.

“But I don’t want to pre-empt anything ahead of the Wednesday meeting.”

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has threatened to release a video showing alleged atrocities committed by the military during the senatorial rerun election which took place on Saturday, March 19, 2016.

According to reports, the elections was characterised by allegations, counter-allegations and even pockets of violence in some areas.
