Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene of the crash in Nottingham earlier today. Upon arrival they found the wing of the light aircraft had broken through the passenger side of the white van, shattering the glass. The wing of the plane however stopped just a few inches from the driver’s face.
Neighbours said the dazed pilot was helped out of the wreckage by a man working on a nearby farm. The driver of the car was also quickly evacuated from the vehicle. Upon examination, both parties emerged relatively unscathed from the aviation accident.
Fire engines, multiple ambulances and the air ambulance quickly arrived at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Transit van, a street light electrician for the council, who was on his way to get a job done was said to be “shaken” after the accident.
"The passenger side of the van was severely damaged and the windscreen smashed. Our driver was obviously shaken but is thankfully otherwise unhurt,” said Neil Hodgson, the Council's service director for highways.
Surrounding roads were forced to be shut as the battered plane was later towed off.
