Two drivers narrowly escaped death on a motorway connecting London and Birmingham (M40 motorway) leaving other road users trapped for seven hours in traffic after after a collision.

According to Birmingham Mail, Part of the motorway was closed after a truck travelling northbound crashed through the central reservation and ploughed into a bridge at around 11am on Friday.

The truck which was carrying around 200 litres of grain spilled over a carriage way after it collided with a cab.

According to the ambulance service spokesman he said:

“One of the Lorries had collided with a bridge support and was on its side. Its driver, a man in his thirties had leg pain.

“He was immobilised and was given pain relief but because of the amount of damage to the cab, he was taken to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment and treatment.

“One of the other lorry drivers had back pain but he refused hospital treatment. The third lorry driver was uninjured"
