Robbery victims turn up to identify apprehended suspects in Lagos

News reports have revealed the apprehension of 3 robbery suspects, with victims called in to identify them following their robbery experiences and lodged complaints with the police.

The suspects were reportedly paraded at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja over charges which ranged from robbery and rape to impersonation.

Victims who had items to the suspects and had lodged complaints at the Police command were invited to help identify the suspects who had allegedly attacked their homes, making away with cash and other valuables.

A lady identified as Precious Nwankwo, who was one of those called in to help identify the suspects, had revealed that she had almost been gang rapped by 3 of the suspects.

Miss Nwankwo had identified the 3 apprehended suspects as Balogun Mutiu, 32, Kuye Daniels, 24, and Fashola Adewunmi, 32, as members of the robbery gang that had attacked her in her apartment located around the Iju area of Lagos state.

Speaking on her experience, Nwankwo said:

“I was asleep when the door of my apartment was forced opened .I woke up in shock and  quickly tied my wrapper . Before I could hide, these strangers (pointing to the suspects) barged in . One of them said they should waste me if I had no money to give to them. They took my hand bag which was on the bed,  opened it and poured out everything  on the bed and collected  the money.

"In my confusion, I ran inside the toilet inspite of warning from them not to do so. Two of them (Kuye Daniels and Fashola Adewunmi ) ran after me and threatened to rape me to death  for disobeying their order.  They were about to carry out their threat when their partner told them to leave for the next apartment .  I recognized them because they were not masked .  They collected N60, 000 from my bag and N5, 000 from my wallet, including  two ATM cards, one infinix phone, one Nokia Lumia, one Tehno phone and one Nokia touch.”

Nwankwo's account was one out of 4 others which were received at the station today, with other allegations ranging from snatched cars to room by room operations where the victims had lost valuables ranging from cash to other valuables like laptops and phones.
