Peter Karite, on Monday, January 11, admitted to have attempted to defile a 12-year-old girl but maintained that it was not wrong as she was his God-chosen wife.
“I had a vision and received instructions that she was my wife and that is why I tried to rape her. It does not matter if I am jailed or not, the marriage will still take place. God has chosen the girl for me and nothing will stop it,” said Karite as quoted by The Standard.
Nyeri Resident Magistrate John Aringo had to asked the accused twice whether he knew the girl was a minor and the consequences of his action. Karite said he knew but reitarated their bond was unbreakable.
The magistrate then sentenced Karite to 10 years in jail for the attempted $exual assault on the class eight pupil on January 7.
Karite’s victim told police that it was the second time the accused tried to defile her and she was lucky that a neighbour heard her screaming and intervened.
The neighbour then called Administration Police officers from Muthinga police post who arrested him.
The minor’s mother said she had even talked to Karite’s parents over their son’s behaviour but that could not stop him from stalking the girl.
