Betrayal - Woman arrests boyfriend she paid to marry her for impregnated another girl

A 29-year-old man, Chukwuemeka Obodozie, has been arrested and arraigned before an Ejigbo Magistrates' Court, sitting in Lagos State, for allegedly betraying his lover, Ogechi Obinma, after collecting the sum of N280,000 under the pretext that he was going to marry her, only to dump her and get another woman pregnant.

According to Obinma, the money was part of their bargain to get married but he later turned against her.


She said that Obodozie told her that he needed money to clear goods that his elder brother sent to him from abroad, and after clearing and selling the goods, that would enable them perform an introduction and traditional marriage. Unknown to her, her fiance had perfected plans to dump her and marry the woman he had already impregnated.

After he collected the money, Obodozie disappeared and refused to be in contact with Obinma. But when Obinma later went to his house, she saw a woman heavily pregnant and when she asked to know who she was, Obodozie confessed that he impregnated the woman and needed money to take care of her and that was why he demanded the money from her.

He asked her to forget the money and see it as a prize she had to pay for their relationship that lasted for over two years. Obinma accepted her fate but requested that Obodozie paid her money in full as she would not be responsible for the finance of his marriage.

When Obodozie threatened to kill her, Obinma reported the matter to the police and he was arrested and charged to court on the charges of obtaining money under false pretence and threat to life.
