Security guards stabs 'Okadaman' to death over N200

A 25-year-old security guard, Habila Hayanchi, has been remanded in prison custody by an Ilorin Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kwara State, for allegedly stabbing one Mohammed Awwal, an 'Okadaman' (commercial motorcyclist), to death over a fare of N200 fare.

According to reports, the incident happened on March 21, 2015, at the Tanke area of Ilorin, the state capital, after an argument that ensued between him and Awwal.

The police prosecutor, Corporal Abegunde Elijah, had earlier told the court that the accused had, during the argument, brought out a jerk knife and stabbed the deceased in the neck, arguing that the offence committed by the accused was not ‘ordinarily bailable.’

Hayanchi was charged with culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code to which he pleaded not guilty and Magistrate Mohammed Aluko, ordered the accused be remanded of the accused in Okekura Prison, Ilorin, while he adjourned the case until March 22 for hearing.
