Fayose - Ekiti Governor blames Buhari for violence in Rivers Rerun polls

Ekiti State Governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose has blamed the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari for the violence that has trailed the State and Federal legislative rerun polls in Rivers.

In a report by ThisDay Newspaper, Fayose said President Buhari must be held accountable for the violence and loss of lives in the highly violent elections.

He was quoted to have said, “Members of Buhari’s party, All Progressives Congress (APC), are emboldened to unleash violence on the people of Rivers State and other States in Nigeria because they know that the president would not lift a finger provided his party members are the ones perpetrating evil."

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka, the governor said President Buhari was blame deserving in the killings in Rivers State while calling for the sack of INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, whom he said marred the face of the electoral body with its conduct in the Rivers election.
