75 years old man and his son, docked over killing of 11-yr-old in Ekiti State

The police in Ekiti on Tuesday arraigned a father, Ayodele Oke, 75 and his son, Tobi,11, in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged murder.
The police prosecutor, Sgt. Bankole Olasunkanmi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Saturday at Ilogbo-Ekiti.

He alleged that the first accused, Oke, on the said date unlawfully loaded his dane gun which he kept within the reach of children to cause danger.
Bankole said that the second accused person, Tobi, unlawfully killed one Samuel Alabi, 10, with the loaded gun while playing with it.
He, however, sought for an adjournment for him to gather his facts and send the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.
While the plea of the first accused was taken, the court refused to take the plea of the second accused.
The defence counsel, Mr Adedeji Emmanuel, prayed the court to grant bail to the first accused person since he was only careless while he left the second accused person’s fate to the discretion of the court.
Chief Magistrate Idowu Ayenimo granted the first accused bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in like sum.
He, however, remanded the second person in a Borstal home and adjourned the case till Jan. 14 for hearing.
