House of Reps members to probe N1.69 trillion railway contract fraud


The House of Representatives have resolved to investigate the N1.69 trillion rail tracks rehabilitation contracts fraud.

Speaking at the opening of the investigative hearing by the ad-hoc committee set up by the House, Speaker, Yakubu Dogarasaid anyone found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.
You will recall that the House of Representatives revealed the high level of looting that went on, under the guise of the Rehabilitation of  Railway tracks.
Vanguard Newspapers also reported that payments were made twice for one project, and contractors delivered coaches and locomotives, below the specification given to them.
Channels Television reports that the past chairmen of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC)- Alhaji Bamanga Tukurand Alhaji Kawu Baraje, both denied any involvement in the fraud.
The House of Representatives is the lower house of Nigeria’s bicameral National Assembly.
