Wife jailed in London for trying to poison her husband

A woman has been jailed for attempting to kill her husband by putting in poison in his drink.

Jacqueline Patrick, 55, poisoned her husband Douglas Patrick at their home in Gipsy Hill in south London, with the help of 21-year-old daughter, Katherine.

His wife gave doctors a fake note from him to say that he did not wish to be revived when he was rushed to hospital. Metro UK reported.

That note was her undoing because there was a typo – she wrote ‘dignaty’ instead of dignity.

Douglas, who is a London bus driver, was left fighting for his life having survived a previous attempt by his wife to kill him two months before, by putting medication in his drink.

Jacqueline pleaded guilty last month to two counts of attempted murder while her daughter admitted a charge of inciting another to administer a noxious substance.

She was given a sentence of 15 years for each charge to be served concurrently, and her daughter received a three-year jail sentence.

Douglas did not want to pursue a case against his wife and daughter and did not want to see them jailed, the court was told.
